Bathroom renovation

After celebrating our new home for almost a week, now it is time to start preparing and planning for the first big renovation: the bathroom. Before I present to you with the before images (which I know will make you cry), why don't we take a peek at this gorgeous modern farmhouse style bathroom to serve as inspiration! Love the mix of wood with some whitish tiles or perhaps in the cream tones. The vanity in these type of bathrooms is the main character, freeing the space from drawers and pulls for a more relax look. (For more inspiration visit my Pinterest Bathroom board)

At the moment, the only bathroom we have is the smallest one you can ever imagine. One toilet, one very old shower in which my husband (6'2") wouldn't fit in and one pedestal sink! To top it all, almost the entire space except for the ceiling, is covered in blue mosaics... YIKES! Before you scroll down, let me advise you that these pictures were all taken during the appraisal and that right now everything is gone (even the tiles).

So, now take a deep breath and let me present to you my new (and in the making) bathroom. The original space (an almost 5'x7' area) was between two bedroom entrance doors and one linen closet. To gain some space, we took that closet down and expanded the area as you'll see on the floor plans. My design proposal is to place the shower right in front of the window changing completely what was set before, and the toilet on the right side corner for more privacy. Now we have space for a double vanity which hopefully will have a farmhouse style look.

To keep this space looking light, I'm going with the white Carrara Marble for the shower walls and on the floors, wood like tiles in sand tones for a bit of warm. The rest of the materials are going to to evoke a sense of illumination and radiance throughout. This perspective I did using SketchUp will serve to give you a better understanding of my design for this space.
